Senco Services working with ‘Ambitious about Autism’ on new national mental health programme

Senco Services have been working with Ambitious about Autism to design a programme called ‘Autistic and OK’. We’ve been working with their team and educating them on mainstream SEND school structure, helping the team understand how to pitch their offering and make it work within the secondary school environment, and how to approach, onboard and engage schools to achieve successful outcomes.

Ambitious about Autism is the national charity for autistic children and young people. They support autistic children, young people and their families to champion rights, campaign for change and create opportunities.

The programme will pioneer ground-breaking autism acceptance toolkits for secondary schools and provide resources for autistic pupils, non-autistic peers, and teachers. The toolkit will empower autistic young people with the knowledge and self-awareness to proactively look after their own mental wellbeing before reaching crisis point.

The program will initially run in 600 schools throughout the UK with the hope of eventually being provided to all UK secondary schools.
